Antwerp takes its food seriously. Waffles here aren’t just breakfast. They’re an institution. Crispy outside, soft inside, and topped with whipped cream, they’re impossible to resist. And don’t get us started on the fries: double-fried, golden, and served with a proud local attitude. For something heartier, try stoofvlees: a rich, beer-infused beef stew that warms you up from the inside out. In Antwerp, every meal feels like a celebration.
De Zoeten Verleiding (WAFFLES AND ICE CREAM)
A cosy tearoom near the Cathedral, run by a young entrepreneur who keeps authentic Belgian and Antwerp recipes alive. The perfect stop for a fresh waffle with coffee, ice cream or a savoury snack in the heart of Antwerp.
De Sinjoor (BELGIAN CUISINE)
A restaurant right in the city center with a nice Belgian cuisine. “De Sinjoor” is a nickname for the residents of Antwerp. We suggest the ‘stoofvlees’ and the ‘vol au vent’ as typical Belgian dishes.
De Rooden Hoed (BELGIAN CUISINE)
Grand Café De Rooden Hoed is the oldest restaurant in Antwerp and has a very rich history within its walls. They suggest typical belgian beers with their dishes.
Brasserie De Post (BELGIAN CUISINE)
Bustling brasserie De Post has been just about the best-known brasserie in Antwerp for over 75 years. Praised for its delicious shrimp croquettes, beef stew and cosy interior with fireplace and fully heated terrace. And last but not least… for its extremely friendly service.
Amùri (SICILIAN RESTAURANT)
Amùri is Sicilian for ‘love’ (‘amore’). This Sicilian restaurant brings the delicious italian flavours to Belgium. The restaurant is a 10 minutes walk away from the Cathedral, but definitely worth the walk.
Pasta-Hippo-Vino (ITALIAN RESTAURANT)
A very nice italian restaurant focusing on serving you the best wines from Italy. Right in the historical center, definitely worth a visit after a long day of city-tripping.
